Where have I been?

Yesterday I spent the afternoon dyeing - I plugged my iPod into my speakers, I set everything on the counter, and I start working listening to Lime & Violet episode # 47. 47? From October 27? That long since last time I listened to Lime & Violet? Where the heck have I been? And where have November and December gone?

Fetching are almost done, almost because:

Fetching

Yes, I need to use a second ball of yarn just to make the second thumb! I would be mad if I were feeling so lucky, because I had a choice between this colorway (I had one ball) and the one I used (I had two balls.) The knitting gods smiled on me and made me choose the right one.

And look what I got in the mail:

It's my prize from Wooly Wonka Fiber - isn't it beautiful?

More WIPs and Fiber Friday

One of the reason why I have so many WIPs is that once I have casted on a project, I think of it as done, because I just have to finish it. So, with this logic, while I had 14 projects on the needles, I added 4 more. To my defense, two are x-mas presents, Fetching for my sister:

Fetshing

and Thuja for my brother-in-law

Thuja

They do not arrive until the 26th, so I have plenty of time to finish these, and Frufru Girl. My nephew? A box of LEGOs is getting more appealing by the minute.

And since I have so much time before x-mas, I started two scarves just because - I am sure I am forgetting someone, and they will get a scarf:

Multidirectional Scarf
Pattern: Multidirectional Scarf by Karen Baumer
Yarn: Mille Colori by Lang Yarns

One Row Scarf
Pattern: One Row Handspun Scarf by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee
Yarn: Karaoke in Playful by South West Trading Company

Among all these new projects, I did finish something, the socks for my brother:

Shepherd Sport Multi by Lorna's Laces

Not only I completed them, but I did on two circulars:

As I said, I was terrified at the idea of raunning out of yarn, so I decided the only way to go was to knit them at the same time. I took a deep breath. I ignored them for a week (one circular needle makes me giddy, the idea of two circular needles almost make me want to pick up crochet), and them I did it. And the socks survived.

Fiber Friday: The Yetsy team members make an effort to list new yarns and fibers on Etsy every Friday - I usually remember around Sunday night, but I am getting better and I did this morning. Check out all the listings, amazing crack stuff.

1, 2, 3 ........

Last time I posted was how many days ago? 10? No, 11?

Note to myself, next year do not take, repeat, DO NOT, take any wholesale order for the yarn business while your other business is open 7 days a week. Last time I checked, still 7 days in a week (and 24 hours in a day.)

Anyway, if you are a member Full Toes Ahead, I hope you are happy with the colorway and the pattern. If you do not, what are you waiting for?

In the mist of skeining, dyeing, and re-skeining, there was one FO: I finally finished and felted the felted bag that was 95% done since August:

Felted Bag

Needle: US 11 / 8.0 mm
Yarn: Lion Brand Lion Wool Solid 1 skeins = 158.0 yards (144.5m) in Sage and Lion Brand Lion Wool Prints 2 skeins = 286.0 yards (261.5m) Majestic Mountain
Pre-felting dimensions: 18x19"
Post-felting dimensions: 14.5x11"

But mostly there were WIPs while I am working my x-mas list.

My brother's socks

Socks for my brother, toe-up, but see what I am doing? I have put the first sock on hold on some scrape yarn and started the second one from the other end of the ball. I have developed a real phobia about running out of yarn. It have not having good sock karma lately (after the Gryffindor sock, even the Jaywalker has been misbehaving, but we won't talk about that.)

I have received some wonderful stitch markers from Emma Crookshanks of Hufflepuff for Hogwarts Sock Swap I:

Gryffindor Stitchmarkers

Aren't they beautiful? I do appreciate the paper as well!

But my good fortune did not stop there, I won one of the prizes for Knit Unto Others and a skein of sock yarn from Wooly Wonka Fiber is on its way to me!

How many WIPS do I have?

I haven't counted them, but I think I can keep doing this for a while. Today I have two very old ones. First up is the Simple Knitted Bodice by Stefanie Japel:

SKB

I am making it in Noro Lily, sadly discontinued (too soft for Noro standards?)

The only piece missing is the second sleeve:

SKB

Ok, I do not have a photo of the sleeve finished, but believe me, it is. But after I finished the second sleeve, I need to lengthen the body because I tried it on and it is way too short. All considered, I am very close on this one, but cotton/silk? No hurry to finish it now.

Second up is my Sugar Maple Shawl, that I am making in DK Cashmere hand-dyed by me:

The original is at FTA, and it is not really my color, so I decided back in February to make myself another one. I would say that I am about 2/3 done, but of course it'll have to wait until after the holidays.
