First FO's of 2008

Since I seldom knit for myself, here you go, the first two FO's of 2008 are not for me.

Cardigan for my niece, in Universal Yarn Classic Worsted and Tango; as I said before, I did not care for the Classic Worsted (too much acrylic in it), but my sister will be able to throw it in the washer. The Tango, on the other hand, is a hoot.

More pictures here.

Basic Cable Hat by Christine Quirion, from Stitch 'N Bitch Nation, take 2.
I first knit this hat following the pattern, and it came out about a newborn size.
So I frogged, re-knitted it adding more repeats, and I ran out of yarn.
So I frogged, changed yarn, added more repeats, changed the ribbing so that it would flow into the pattern, and Principessa loves it.

More WIPs and Fiber Friday

One of the reason why I have so many WIPs is that once I have casted on a project, I think of it as done, because I just have to finish it. So, with this logic, while I had 14 projects on the needles, I added 4 more. To my defense, two are x-mas presents, Fetching for my sister:

Fetshing

and Thuja for my brother-in-law

Thuja

They do not arrive until the 26th, so I have plenty of time to finish these, and Frufru Girl. My nephew? A box of LEGOs is getting more appealing by the minute.

And since I have so much time before x-mas, I started two scarves just because - I am sure I am forgetting someone, and they will get a scarf:

Multidirectional Scarf
Pattern: Multidirectional Scarf by Karen Baumer
Yarn: Mille Colori by Lang Yarns

One Row Scarf
Pattern: One Row Handspun Scarf by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee
Yarn: Karaoke in Playful by South West Trading Company

Among all these new projects, I did finish something, the socks for my brother:

Not only I completed them, but I did on two circulars:

As I said, I was terrified at the idea of raunning out of yarn, so I decided the only way to go was to knit them at the same time. I took a deep breath. I ignored them for a week (one circular needle makes me giddy, the idea of two circular needles almost make me want to pick up crochet), and them I did it. And the socks survived.

Fiber Friday: The Yetsy team members make an effort to list new yarns and fibers on Etsy every Friday - I usually remember around Sunday night, but I am getting better and I did this morning. Check out all the listings, amazing crack stuff.

WIPs report

Like Cara and Susan, I am going to try and make Kim happy with lots of picture of WIPs. X-mas knitting is (almost) all I am doing these days, so here I go.

Ribs & Ruffles Scarf

Ribs and Ruffles Scarf for Principessa's social studies teacher, made in Bollicine Victor (discontinued??), gifted to me by my SP11 - I love love this pattern, and the yarn, so much I am thinking of knitting a second one for Paperino's teacher.

Frufru Girl

I am making this for my niece, a cardigan in Universal Yarn Classic Worsted and Tango. Tango is the funniest yarn I have ever knitted with, but the Classic Worsted? I should have known better than buying something that is mostly acrylic, the yarn snob in me is cringing every time I touch it. I have dome only few centimeters, so I may go back to my LYS and pick a way more expensive another yarn. Or maybe I'll be reasonable and I'll stuck with this. Uhm, who wants to bet on me being reasonable?

More WIPs tomorrow.
