Off the blocking board

While it looks like that things go on the blocking board and stay there forever, they eventually come off:

Catching up

Last time I was around here, I said that I brought seven project with me for my seven weeks summer vacation (plus socks, those does not count exactly like sock yarn does not count as stash.) How did it go?

On the flight to Italy I finished Mr. Pitt's Magic Socks, no photo taken before gifting them to my uncle.

I did not work a stitch on Sahara and I have actually decided it is going to the frog pound: I love the yarn and the color so much that I have decided it should be something that I would wear way more than a form fitting top. Like this one, for example.

I worked a little on my Karabella Cece, and I finished the Katia Jamaica Cardi: no photo of this either because my sister-in-law grabbed even before I could sew the buttons on. I requested pictures but nothing so far.

The Forest Canopy Shawl was finished and now it is no more: it came out quite small, so I decided to add an extra repeat since I had leftover yarn. Turns out, not enough, so I am altering the border a little.
It will join my pile of unblocked shawls soon:

Shawls

I started Pretty Thing about 3 times and never got the count right, but I finished Icarus (see pile of unblocked shawls) and the Sweetheart Cardigan:

The niece this was intended to declared, while watching me knitting, that she likes yellow. Well, I have plenty of nieces, and plenty of yarn, so here it comes Helena in yellow:

Gold Helena

On my way back I finished the Purple July Socks:

And I started the Nutkin Socks in Sockin' Sox, that are now my on-the-go project: soccer season has just started, lots of knitting ahead of me!

This one is about knitting (while I was offline)

Before I left for Italy I managed another very quick baby knit:

Boheme
Pattern: Boheme by Allegra Wermuth
Yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport Multi
Ravelry project page here.

It took me only a couple of days to make it, another last minute gift!

Of the seven projects I decided to bring with me for my seven weeks of vacation (I marvel a my self restrain), I already finished two: Mr. Pitt's Magic Socks and Katia Jamaica Cardi. No photos yet.

I started Icarus (another black shawl, this is done and blocked), but I was not loving the yarn, so I casted for the Sweetheart Cardigan in pink Arcadia as well.

A month?

Yes, a month since last post. So this is a pity post, just to say I did not more than a month without blogging. There has been knitting, and I have photos to prove it.
I have started CeCe:

and a black shawl:

and I made baby socks:

I am sure there was more .... maybe?

March Finally

I am so glad February is over, I just do not like that month. It is too short and with ski week smack in the middle, even more. And the peak of the flu season, so everybody gets sick. Really, really happy is March now!

Update on Ariann [Ravelry link]: the wonderful of Little Knits sent me two more balls of Queensland Uruguay DK [Ravelry link], even matching the dye lots - yippee! I can now finish Ariann, in fact I have been working on it no stop. I will probably only need one extra ball, just you know, just in case.

This latest incident of yarn shortage made me think about my yarn habit.
Should I stop buying yarn in I do not have a project for it so that I buy the right quantity? This would not have prevented the Ariann problem, because I did have the right quantity according to the pattern.
Should I try and use the yarn I buy in a reasonable time frame so that it does not become impossible to match dye lots if I need more? I have yarn in my stash whose photo I took in 2005! Don't know why, but yarn sitting in my stash for more than 2 years bugs me and makes me feel guilty. Poor yarn, waiting and waiting for my attention! So next project will be with the last 3 balls of my first Karaoke (July 2005) - does that sound like a wine?

While waiting for Ariann's yarn, I made a baby hat [Ravelry link]:

Yarn: LuLu's Yarns TM Sock in Ciclamini (double) - 1/3 of a skein

A scarf [Ravelry link]:

Jan's Sensational Scarf
Yarn: Baywood Yarns Luxury Sock & Shawl in Summer Sunser and Karabella Gossamer (1/2 skein each)
Pattern: Jan's Sensational Scarf [Ravelry link]

And I finally put the fringe on my Multidirectional Scarf [Ravelry link]:

Sock Yarn Shawl

Since I have about 20 projects or so due soon for various reasons, I am completely enamored with the one that I am knitting just because:

Sock Yarn Shawl

Your basic top down shawl, a basket full of all my leftover sock yarns, no plan but changing the yarn every ten rows. There has been other knitting too, a present due tomorrow afternoon is done (with about 18 hours to spare!):

Mossy Jacket

Pattern by Fawn Pea, available here, I used one skein of Hill Country Yarns Sweet Feet in Periwinkle, doubling it, and about half ball of Fibranatura Sensational.

Basic Hat

A hat to go with these, and tiny tiny socks for a bookmark (pattern by Cat Bordhi here):

Treasure Forest Sock Bookmark

But I keep going back to my shawl, and I like it so much that I am going to have a contest about it - come back tomorrow (or Monday.)
