Twin size blanket free pattern

This blanket is made with my square #1. You will need 72 of these squares (each square is 6x6 inches) for a twin size blanket, of two different colors.

Material: 20 oz. of worsted yarn in color A and 20 oz. of worsted yarn in color B, needles #10 (6 mm), a tapestry needle and a crochet hook J.

To make one square, cast 27 stitches.

Row 1 and 2, knit.
Row 3, 5 and 7: knit 3, purl 3
Row 4, 6 and 8: purl 3, knit 3

Repeat from row 1 until you have a square, ending with row 2. Bind off.

Make 36 squares in color A and 36 squares in color B. Sew them together in a checked pattern.

Edge: attach yarn in corner and with crochet hook J work a row of single stitch all around working 1 single stitch in each corner and 1 single stitch in every other row at sides, joint.
2nd round: chain 4, * skip 1 single stitch, double stitch in next stitch, repeat from * all around, join in 3rd stitch of chain, cut yarn.
