It's over
Socktoberfest is over and my balance is ..... three pairs of socks.
Ok, I'll be honest, three pairs of children socks.
I was busy, distracted, and it is still too sunny out there.

It's fall
Most people feel a rush of energy in Spring. Me, the only thing I want to do when Spring comes around is crawl under a rock and sleep until after the summer. As I said before, I was probably a vampire in a previous life, but come on, a cloud in the sky every once in a while, please?
Anyway, now it is fall and while still no clouds, the days are getting shorter, and I love it! As soon as it is dark, I get a rush of adrenaline and I go in over ride. I am at my best at night, and soon "night" will start 6 in the afternoon.
The result of this newfound energy of mine? 16 projects on my needles, and I would have more if I weren't out of 4.5 mm needles. I can't help it, but I am starting something new every night, or almost. It's startisis in full blown! And, I started to dye again, I have about 10 hanks of fingering and lace weight yarn waiting for me to decide what to do with them. Some of them will end up on my Etsy shop, after I have only so many hours ofdark knitting every day.

Project ColorSwap
I completely forgot to blog about the last Project Colorswap package I received until Lynne reminded me - bad Lu!
My partner was Nicole, and look what she sent me:

Slide your mouse over to see what was inside.
Of course the candies are long gone by now, but the yarns deserve some close-ups:

Interlacements Carolina

Luxury Silk
Thank you so much, Nicole!

Confessions of a yarnaholic
This thing happens to me, when I am in a place that sells yarn, be the new shop on the block or Michael's, I start to sound like Rebecca Bloomwood from Confessions of a Shopaholic.
I always start out with the best intentions, I am going just to take a look. Next thing I know, I start saying things like, "Wasn't I saying just this morning that I need some heavyweight sock yarn to make socks for my dad? This is the perfect color!"
Or, "Was I just thinking this morning that I need some nice cotton sock yarn? It is too hot in California for wool socks." Never mind that it was freezing this morning.
So there, I never said I did not have a problem.

Knitter's Tea Swap
The wonderful Laurie was my KTS2 pal and she sent me the most beautiful package:

filled to the brim with little packages:

Principessa had a blast unwrapping everything:

She sent me tea (of course), cookies (must defend those from the kids), soaps (her own!), the most beautiful tea cup and bag plate, Opal Ladybug, and Knit Picks Sock Garden.
Thank you Laurie, you have been a wonderful pal!

Socks are done, contest is over
Paperino was not happy at all to be modeling a "girly" socks, but, you know, chocolate works wonders. Click here for more shots.Elspeth, Susan, and Lisa guessed right, it is the new SWTC sock yarn that is going to hit the market in January. Nice stuff, very soft, I can't wait to see all the colorways.
As for the contest, I asked Paperino a number between 1 and 18 and he said six because "I am six!".
So, Jennifer, I have your address, a package in the mail for you soon!

Socktoberfest

My plan for Socktoberfest is to finish all the socks I have laying around the house - I counted 4 pairs last night. Pretty boring plan! So to jazz up things a little, what about a contest? Guess with which yarn I am knitting this baby:

Hint, it is a new yarn that has not hit the market yet - perks of working at a yarn store!
Leave a comment with your guess, and I'll draw a winner among all the comments, it does not matter if you guessed right or not, the important thing is to play, not to win!
The prize, how about this?

Autumn Weather
Not only this morning the heater went on at our house (it was as low as 11° C last night), but it seems that tomorrow and Wednesday is going to rain - fall is here! Good thing I finished my fingerless mittens, it was freezing at the bus stop this morning.
And before you people who live in Minnesota or places like that start laughing at me, I'll remind you all that I did grow up in Italy and so even I am perfectly aware the water does not freeze at 11° C, it is freezing for me.
